Vertices to Allow Action List Transfers to Offsite Storage Vendors via FTP
NEEDHAM, Mass. - Feb. 28, 2003 - Today, B&L Associates, Inc. announced an exciting new enhancement for its versatile and comprehensive media management system, Vertices®. The new Vertices FTP functionality will allow customers to automatically transfer action lists to offsite storage vendors, and other vaults, via FTP.
Vertices Action Lists let data center personnel and storage facilities know what media movements have to be performed. In addition to a hard copy list, Vertices will automatically generate an electronic file, and send it to an offsite vendor or vault for processing. Electronic transferring makes sure the destination location knows what tapes will be arriving, as well as what tapes to ship back to the originating location.
This latest addition to Vertices’ already comprehensive feature set will allow it to fully automate the entire back-end of an enterprise-wide media protection system—tracking the backup media from creation through storage and re-use, reporting the backup media contents no matter where or when created, and guarding against premature or accidental overwriting of critical data.
