Vertices' New Feature Makes Scratch Media Use More Efficient

NEEDHAM, Mass. - September 29, 2004 - B&L Associates, Inc., a leader in open systems media management software, today announced a new vaulting pattern feature that will add even greater functionality to their Vertices® tape management system.

Building on Vertices' existing and extensive vaulting pattern functionality, the "Move After Scratch" function allows users of Vertices to automatically move their tapes back to the originating location from the offsite vault once the data on the tape has expired. To ensure absolute accuracy, Vertices Automation Agents automatically capture the expiration date from VERITAS, LEGATO, HP, Computer Associates, Syncsort, and BakBone backup applications.

"Setting up Vertices has never been easier. New users could always start the Automation Agents and see their media populated in the correct locations instantaneously. However, with the new Move After Scratch feature, users will never have to worry about scratch media not being returned and reused in a timely manner," says Mike Kramer, vice president of sales and marketing for B&L Associates.

This new functionality complements Vertices growing list of robust features, which include:

  • Track removable physical tapes and other media, such as DLT, LTO, AIT, and Removable Disk
  • Bar code scanning for quick inventories and automatic reconciliations
  • Administration of the system from anywhere in an organization while centrally maintaining all information
  • Extensive report generation for a myriad of inquiries
  • Special custom reporting features for compliance audits
  • A two-tiered security system for absolute protection
